Why Chiropractic Care Is A Powerful Tool For Your Good Health

Chiropractic care is as important as dental or eye care.
We know from experience that brushing twice daily, flossing and getting our teeth cleaned regularly prevents cavities. I’ve also experienced the opposite – letting things go a little too long and allowing a tiny ache in a tooth become the “new normal” by adjusting my bite and not chewing on that side – until the pain grows and becomes an emergency.
Massive amounts of drilling, a root canal and a twelve hundred dollar crown ensue. Not sure what hurt more – my mouth or my wallet.
Chiropractic care for your spine also prevents small problems from growing into big ones.
As a Chiropractor, I’m an expert on spinal health and my primary focus is on finding and correcting restrictions in the spine. A restriction forms when two adjacent vertebrae in the spine become stuck and do not move freely, the way they are supposed to. These restrictions are so important because they irritate the spinal nerves, cause inflammation, and create compensations in other areas of the spine.
Think about a game of Jenga. As the tower grows and weight shifts, some blocks become stuck. No matter how many times you tap it, the block just won’t budge. In fact, the entire tower may start to lean and twist because that block won’t move. This is exactly what happens when there is a restriction in your spine.
So, why does this matter?
The spine protects your nervous system – the massive superhighway of nerves that connect your brain to every organ, muscle, and cell in your body. Nerves transmit vital information to and from your brain in a fraction of a second and allow your brain to oversee every physiological aspect of your body.
Without these nerves, your heart couldn’t beat, your lungs couldn’t breathe and your feet couldn’t move. Nerves control everything – the nervous system is the most important part of your body!
Spinal restrictions compromise the ability of spinal nerves to transmit their information effectively.
A restriction irritates and impedes the function of spinal nerves. Imagine a frayed USB cable that won’t charge your phone anymore or a faulty internet connection. The information doesn’t get through! Instruction from your brain to your heart, lungs, liver, muscles and every cell in your body is compromised.
Don’t worry – you will live. You’ll get by. Your body will adapt. You may not even realize that there is a problem. It’ll feel like the new normal. You’ll just chew on the opposite side of your mouth. You’ll find a different Jenga block to tap on.
When there are spinal restrictions, your body doesn’t run as efficiently as it could. You won’t feel your absolute best. You might feel sluggish or have difficulty concentrating. If you exercise or compete in athletics, your performance may be just a bit off. You can live with a small tooth ache – or restrictions in your spine – but something will always be just a little off, you won’t quite be your best.
The Jenga game will continue just fine as long as there’s a loose block to find. But eventually somebody is going to tap on the wrong block and the tower will come tumbling down.
My purpose as a Chiropractor is to correct spinal restrictions. Removing spinal restrictions immediately improves the way your body functions. It immediately improves how your brain communicates with the rest of your body.
People leave my office feeling immediately better. That’s what I do for your spine. That’s how I know I made a difference today. That is the power of chiropractic!
